In 2002 my wife and I first met Dave, of Artisan Homes, to discuss the building of our dream home designed by Blue Sky Architects, which included many curved walls, arcing roof line and heavy timbers and turned posts.
We were looking for an intelligent motivated builder that had a high level of experience and a passion for working with wood. Dave exceeded our expectations, with his building knowledge, including joinery for the posts and beams, fabricating wood windows made on site, and the use of
trigonometry to calculate the layout of our many curved walls, window sills and roof arc.

Seven years later Dave has now come back to renovate our guest cottage, that was built by others many years ago. We wanted the guest cottage to look similar to the main house, and Dave has succeeded in doing so in the same efficient manner as before.

It has been an absolute pleasure over the years dealing with Dave in his friendly, steady manner and his personalized, inclusive, creative process. We would not hesitate in recommending Dave Dandeneau as a first rate builder, who is a meticulous artisan of building beautiful homes.

We are nearing the completion of a major renovation of our house on Pender Island. Artisan Homes did all of the work except for the interior finishings and we are very satisfied with the result.

The house designer talked to a few builders and recommended Artisan Homes for our work. My wife and I talked to Dave Dandeneau, subsequently viewed several of the houses that he was working on and we liked what we saw. You always wonder if you are doing the right thing when hiring a general contractor but in our case we were more than pleased.

Dave is proficient in three important areas. First he is a technically
strong builder. Our lot has steep rocky slopes which made the foundation and other work difficult and all was done properly and safely. Also there were some large beams and posts that had to be installed and connected with hidden gusset plates. Second he is very artistic. The addition of the double coped fir rafters and fir soffits were specified by Dave and make our house very distinctive. This same coping is mirrored on the double deck
joists as well. The other exterior detailing with the window trim and
shingle siding make our home even more classy. Third Dave has good business practices. His invoices were understandable, complete and fair. I have no reservation in recommending Artisan Homes for major renovations like ours or new house construction.
